Our son is 15 years old and we have had a long journey with speech therapy. Matthew had been seeing “regular” speech therapists
since he was 3 years old because of challenges with communication. He had a therapist who used PROMPT techniques for a short while when he was 4 but it wasn’t until we met Jenn in 2013 that things really started to move in the right direction. We were searching for a professional who utilized oral placement / oral motor techniques and PROMPT since Matthew had no clue as to how to shape his mouth to form words. Since he has started working with Jenn at Jabbermouths, Matthew’s verbalization has increased tremendously! He looks forward to speech therapy and enjoys the hard work. Matthew uses Sign Language to communicate however; he can now add verbal approximations to his signs. He is speaking more words than ever and can say some names of people close to him so that they are understandable. Helping Matthew learn to move his mouth in new ways has aided Matthew in making a huge leap in his speech development, even after many years of slow progress with traditional methods. Jenn has made a very positive difference in Matthew’s life and speech abilities!
